Three Arrested in Connection with January Homicide in D.C.

Washington, D.C. – The D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch has announced the arrest of three men linked to a fatal shooting that took place in Southeast D.C. in January.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 23, around 9:00 p.m., when officers responded to a shooting report in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 59-year-old Raymond Ballard of Southeast D.C. inside a business, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

On Monday, March 18th, following a D.C. Superior Court indictment, Steven Metts, 18, of Southeast D.C., Jovontae Wallace, 19, of District Heights, MD, and Keondre Carroll, 21, also of Southeast D.C., were charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.
