Three Brick Squad gang members sentenced to life in prison for murder and conspiracy charges
  • New York City News

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Three members of the Brick Squad gang have been sentenced to up to life in prison for their roles in violent crimes, including the murder of two individuals, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday. The convictions stem from an indictment involving nine gang members charged with conspiracy to commit murder, sell narcotics, and other offenses.

District Attorney Eric Gonzalez emphasized the impact of the sentencing on the community. “These sentences send an unequivocal message: violent gang activity and the destruction it causes will be met with serious consequences in Brooklyn,” Gonzalez said. He added that his office remains committed to dismantling dangerous groups that incite violence in the borough.

Christopher Garcia, 26, a high-ranking member of the gang, received a sentence of 41 2/3 years to life in prison on September 4, following his conviction for second-degree murder, conspiracy, and criminal possession of a weapon. Co-defendants Quazeer Farmer, 25, and Jashaun Washington, 24, were sentenced Wednesday to 30 2/3 years to life and 27 2/3 years to life, respectively. Both were found guilty of second-degree murder and conspiracy charges in a July 2024 trial.

Six other co-defendants in the same indictment pleaded guilty to conspiracy and related charges. One additional defendant died while awaiting trial.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by Brooklyn law enforcement to address gang-related violence and protect the safety of residents.
