Unclaimed NJ lottery tickets worth $200000 set to expire in coming weeks
Trenton, NJ – New Jersey Lottery officials are urging players to check their old tickets after announcing that two major unclaimed prizes are approaching their expiration dates.
A $50,000 winning Powerball ticket sold at Quick Chek #127 on US 130 in Dayton must be claimed by Sept. 25. Meanwhile, a $150,000 Jersey Cash 5 jackpot sold at White Oak Liquors on Union Avenue in Belleville will expire on Nov. 1 if the winner does not come forward.
In New Jersey, players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim winnings. Once that deadline passes, prizes are forfeited.
Lottery officials highlighted a reminder from earlier this year, when a Mercer County player checked an overlooked Mega Millions ticket months after the drawing and discovered it was worth $1 million.
Players can verify their tickets and file claims online or through the New Jersey Lottery app.
