Tobacco thief brandishes gun during robbery at Bronx bodega

NEW YORK, NY – Police continue investigating an armed robbery at a bodega in Mott Place in the Bronx. Last Sunday, an unknown male suspect entered the bodega at 511 East 138th Street and asked for tobacco products and a bottle of Nyquil.

At that time, the suspect reached over the counter and stole $200 in cash from the business and attempted to flee without paying for his merchandise.

A second employee in the store noticed the act and locked the door. The 18-year-old worker attempted to lock the suspect inside the store, but the suspect brandished a gun and told the worker to open the door.

The employee complied and the suspect fled with cash and $36 worth of tobacco products and a bottle Nyquil.

Police described the suspect as a male approximately 5’3″ tall, with a light complexion, medium build, and black hair, last seen wearing a black baseball hat, a blue bubble jacket, gray pants and black sneakers.
