Toddler in Diaper Rescued After Wandering Alone on Route 9 in Bayville

Berkeley Township, NJ – A toddler was rescued after walking across Route 9 near Morris Boulevard alone on a Tuesday morning, according to Berkeley Township police.

The child, who was wearing only a diaper, was found in the parking lot of Diesel’s Subs with good Samaritans after police responded to calls about the incident around 10 a.m.

Officers managed to reunite the toddler with their grandmother, who arrived shortly after the child was found. Following the incident, police escorted the child and grandmother back to their home.

Authorities revealed the toddler had left the house while the door alarm was deactivated, walking approximately two blocks before being discovered. Concerned by the situation, police contacted the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency for further assistance.
