Toddler Shot Dead in Downtown Pittsburgh Drive-by Shooting

PITTSBURGH, PA – An 18-month-old boy was shot and killed in Downtown Pittsburgh Sunday afternoon in a drive-by shooting, the Pittsburgh Police Department reported last night.

Police have since arrested 26-year-old Londell Falconer and charged him with homicide and criminal conspiracy.

Pittsburgh Police, Pittsburgh EMS, Port Authority Police and Allegheny County Sheriffs responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls for a child shot on the 100 block of Fourth Avenue around 2:44 p.m.

“When first responders arrived, they located the child with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle,” police said. “Medics pronounced the boy victim shortly after their arrival. During the initial investigation, police learned the victim was struck during a drive-by.”

“I don’t think you can ever say something can be worse when a baby gets killed, or anyone for that matter. You know, we are actively working nationwide to reduce violence in all of our cities, and any loss of life is tragic,” said Pittsburgh Police Commander Cristyn Zett in a statement.

The boy was later identified as De’Avry Thomas.
