Toms River Democrats Join Bi-Partisan Effort Against Murphy School Funding Formula

TOMS RIVER-Toms River Council Democrats Terrance Turnbach and Laurie Huryk joined in a bi-partisan legislative effort with Republican Dan Rodrick to join Republicans tonight to speak out against school funding cuts in Toms River.   The cuts, which were handed down to many towns at the Jersey Shore, including Brick, Toms River, and Jackson have had dire consequences in the school districts.

This year, in Toms River the district cut nearly 80 positions after Murphy’s new funding formula cut $2.8 million from the school budget, leaving residents with higher taxes and fewer services available in the upcoming school year for students.
