BRISTOL, CT – The Toms River Little League Girls Softball All-Stars defeated Georgetown Little League of Delaware 6-2 to open the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament on Sunday.
Maya Ballaccomo and Emma Eisman each had one hit and two RBIs while Kayla Rasmussen had a double and an RBI.
Isabella Cino pitched six innings, striking out 7 and giving up 2 earned runs. New Jersey scored in the top of the first on a sacrifice bunt by Brielle Troy, giving them a 1-0 lead, but Georgetown came back.
Heading into the sixth and final inning of the game, Georgetown held a 2-1 lead and was looking to close out Toms River in the top of the sixth.

In the top of the sixth Cino led off with a walk. Then, things went downhill for Delaware starting pitcher Makayla Elkenberry who held Toms River to just one run in the first five innings.

Brianna Troy walked, then with one out, facing cleanup hitter Kelly Forester, Delaware intentionally walked her.
With bases loaded Ballaccomo hit a hard ground ball that got through the infield into right field. Cino and Troy scored on the play, giving New Jersey a 3-2 lead.
For insurance, Eisman hit a two-rbi single to left, clearing the bases and giving New Jersey a 5-2 lead and Rasmussen doubled to center to drive in Eisman.
New Jersey held a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth where Cino retired the Delaware girls in order to win the game.

On Tuesday, Toms River will play Delmar Little League of Maryland at 4 pm.
