HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – In the early hours of Memorial Day, a Toms River man was arrested by the Hasbrouck Heights Police, with assistance from several other law enforcement agencies, following a violent encounter. The incident began around 2:15 AM on Monday, May 27, when a woman reported her boyfriend had jumped from her vehicle on Terrace Avenue and was potentially armed with a knife.

The suspect, identified as Albert Fischetta III from Toms River, was also reported to have taken PCP. After crossing into Hackensack, he entered a convenience store, prompting a response from local police. Officer Olivo first encountered Fischetta in the store’s parking lot, where the suspect refused to communicate and became verbally aggressive.

As Fischetta wandered into traffic, Officer Olivo tried to deescalate the situation.

However, Fischetta resisted, becoming physically violent when restraint was attempted. Additional officers, including Officer Woodbridge and Officer Armeli, as well as units from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Hackensack City Police, and Wood-Ridge Police, arrived to assist in the arrest.
