Toms River man struck by car while crossing street

TOMS RIVER, NJ – On Monday, November 29, 2021, at approximately 4:58 PM police units were dispatched to the intersection of Vaughn Avenue and Windsor Avenue for a reported pedestrian struck. Initial investigation revealed Carl Cereghini, 61 of Toms River, entered the roadway in an attempt to cross when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Vaughn Avenue.

As a result of the accident, Mr. Cereghini sustained serious injuries and was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle stated that Mr. Cereghini entered the roadway in front of them leaving no time for the driver to stop or avoid hitting him. There were no signs of impairment of the driver who did not sustain any injuries as a result of the accident.
