Tractor-trailer fire shuts down I-81 in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, NY – Interstate 81 in Syracuse was shut down this afternoon due to a tractor-trailer fire.

The Syracuse police department reported the tractor-trailer caught fire on I-81 Northbound near exit 18 and Albany Street.

All Northbound lanes between exit 17 (Brighton Ave.) and exit 18 (Adam’s St.) were shutdown. All traffic between these exits was being diverted to I-481 North.

No further information was released by the department regarding injuries or what caused the crash.
