Truck crashes into cherry hill apartment building, displaces families

CHERRY HILL, N.J. — A truck crashed into a residential building in the Burroughs Mill development late Tuesday morning, prompting evacuations and emergency housing arrangements, according to the Cherry Hill Police Department.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 11:57 a.m. near 1800 Burroughs Mill Circle when a truck struck the building. No injuries were reported, but the structural damage forced several families to leave their homes temporarily.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Schenectady, New York, was taken into custody.

Police stated that the crash appears to have been isolated and unintentional. “Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no further details can be released at this time,” the department noted.

Temporary housing was arranged by the Burroughs Mill property management team, who responded quickly to assist affected residents. Emergency crews, including Cherry Hill Police, Cherry Hill Fire Department, and utility engineers, remained on site throughout the day to evaluate structural concerns and manage utility disruptions.

Roadway remained closed through evening

The area near 1800 Burroughs Mill Circle remained closed for the remainder of the evening as engineers assess the damage.

The Cherry Hill Police Department praised the response of the Cherry Hill Fire Department and other involved agencies. Coordination with PSE&G and structural engineers is ongoing to ensure a safe resolution to the incident.
