Fort Washington player scores second $50K Lottery prize
FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — A Fort Washington man who won $50,000 playing a Maryland Lottery scratch-off more than a decade ago has done it again, claiming another $50,000 top prize.
According to the Maryland Lottery, the Prince George’s County resident claimed a $50,000 top prize on the $5 Multiply Your Money scratch-off after purchasing the winning ticket at Brother Liquors, 12788-B Old Fort Road in Fort Washington.
The winner told Lottery officials he was surprised by the win.
“Yeah, I was surprised. And the guy in the store was surprised he sold me one that big,” he said.
The Lottery said the player’s first major prize came in July 2015, when he also won $50,000 on a Diamonds and Dollars scratch-off.
He said he used part of that earlier prize to purchase a new car and saved the remainder.
The winner plans to take a similar approach with his latest prize, using part of the money for a home improvement project and to help a family member before putting the rest into savings.
He also told Lottery officials he plans to keep playing in hopes of another big win.
Brother Liquors will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
Multiply Your Money went on sale in June with seven $50,000 top prizes. Following this win, four top prizes remain.
