Two-alarm fire in Pittsburgh’s New Homestead neighborhood leaves one injured

PITTSBURGH — A two-alarm fire broke out early Sunday afternoon in a residence on the 4500 block of Marina Drive in Pittsburgh’s New Homestead neighborhood, according to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.

The fire started on the back patio and spread rapidly throughout the house. One adult male sustained a burn injury to his hand while attempting to extinguish the fire. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Two other adults who reside in the home were not present when the fire started and were uninjured. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Investigation Unit.

The Red Cross has been notified to assist the family with temporary housing.
