UPPER MARLBORO, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department has announced the arrest of two 19-year-olds, Xavier Stewart of Clinton and Noreon Moody of Bowie, following a shooting incident involving a police officer. The event, which occurred on Wednesday in the unincorporated area of Upper Marlboro, did not result in any injuries to the officer targeted.

According to the police, the incident took place on April 10, 2024, at approximately 11:05 AM, when Stewart and Moody allegedly fired at the officer who was in an unmarked vehicle on Crain Highway near Trade Zone Avenue. The officer was conducting an investigation in the area when the suspects opened fire and then fled the scene.

After a brief pursuit and subsequent investigation, the Gun Crimes Unit, along with the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Fugitive Unit, managed to apprehend the suspects several hours later. A firearm was recovered from Moody’s backpack, which has been confirmed to be used in the shooting.

Noreon Moody faces charges of attempted murder and various firearms offenses, while Xavier Stewart is charged with unauthorized use of a stolen vehicle, which was also used during the incident. Both suspects are now in custody as the investigation continues.
