Two arrested on drug and gun charges in Laurel

LAUREL, Md. — Two suspects were arrested Wednesday evening on drug and firearm charges after officers responded to reports of illegal substance use.

The incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. in the 3400 block of Bitterwood Place. Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old woman smoking marijuana and using prescription pills. During the investigation, a 20-year-old man was seen attempting to conceal an item, which was later identified as a .45 caliber Springfield handgun.

The woman was found to be in possession of approximately 39.63 grams of suspected cocaine and 9.52 grams of suspected fentanyl pills. Authorities also confirmed she had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. They face charges related to drug possession and firearm violations.
