NEWARK, DE – Two 18-year-old suspects have been charged after Driving their black Mercedes-Benz through the University of Delaware campus and shooting pedestrians with water pellets.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Rebecca Jefferson, 18, of New Castle, and the passenger was identified as Jaluan Knight, 18, of Newark.
According to police, on Thursday at around 7:52 p.m., officers were called to the area of South College Avenue and East Delaware Avenue for a report of a person shot by a water pellet gun (gel ball).
“The victim reported that while walking on South College Avenue, a black Mercedes drove, by and the occupants shot the victim with a water pellet,” the Newark Police Department said on Friday. “Seven additional victims contacted Newark Police and reported similar conduct from the described vehicle. None of the victims required medical treatment.”
A police report indicated the incidents occurred on East and West Delaware Avenues, East Main Street, Center Street and East Cleveland Avenue.
After the incident was reported to police, a vehicle stop was conducted by patrolling officers on East Cleveland Avenue. The two suspects were taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, eight counts of offensive touching, and conspiracy. Police located and confiscated to pellet guns found inside the vehicle.

They were both released on a $5,500 bond.
