Two Charged in Deadly Shooting at Maryland Laundromat

EDMONSTON, Md. — Two suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on Sunday evening inside a laundromat in the town of Edmonston. Prince George’s County Police have charged 20-year-old Alex Delgado of Silver Spring and a 17-year-old male from New Carrollton, both as adults, with the murder of 18-year-old Anibal Suazo of Lothian.

Officers responded to the scene in the 4700 block of Kenilworth Avenue around 6:00 p.m. on September 8. Suazo was found inside the laundromat suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene. A second victim, an adult female, was also found with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. Delgado, one of the suspects, was located inside the business with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

According to the preliminary investigation, the suspects specifically targeted Suazo. They began physically assaulting him before Delgado opened fire, hitting both victims. Suazo returned fire before succumbing to his injuries. The suspects and Suazo were known to each other, and the motive remains under investigation. Police recovered two weapons at the scene.

The second suspect, a 17-year-old male, fled the scene in a vehicle but was apprehended following a police pursuit with assistance from the PGPD’s Guardian helicopter.

Both suspects face charges of first-degree murder and related offenses. The 17-year-old is being held at the Department of Corrections.

The Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the incident.
