Two confirmed killed, others injured in fiery crash near Jackson-Lakewood border

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Two people have been declared deceased in a fatal early morning crash in Jackson Township when their vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire. Several other individuals were also reportedly inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and they were transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center.

At this time, the total number of casualties remains unknown.

A small SUV crashed into a tree early Friday morning on North Hope Chapel Road near the border of Jackson and Lakewood. Police had closed off the road and yellow crime scene tape encircled the crash scene.

Investigators from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, Lakewood Police Department and Jackson Police Department were on scene.

The vehicle, which appeared to be traveling northbound on Hope Chapel Road appeared suffered serious damage in the crash.

At this time, no information has been released regarding injuries or the cause of the crash.
