Two Human Stash Houses and Large Groups Encountered in RGV

Migrants are detained by U.S. Border Patrol agents, as seen from Ciudad Juarez

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents and local law enforcement partners work together to disrupt two human smuggling stash houses.

On April 18, Weslaco Border Patrol Station agents working in coordination with the Donna Police Department (DPD) responded to a report of a possible migrant stash house.  Agents and DPD officers discovered 29 migrants in extreme and overcrowded conditions who were unlawfully present in the U. S.  The migrants were placed under arrest without incident and transported to the station.

Earlier that day, RGV agents working in coordination with Hidalgo County Constable Precinct 4 deputies received information of a suspected stash house in Edinburg.  RGV agents and local law enforcement convened at the residence and discovered two migrants who were unlawfully present in the U.S.  No caretaker was identified.

Additionally, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents encountered two large groups totaling 468 noncitizens in Star County. The group consisted of 162 family members, 71 unaccompanied children, and 235 single adults. The migrants are from Central America, Cuba, and Peru. The migrants were transported to a Border Patrol station.

Border Patrol processed all subjects accordingly.
