LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Two people were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when a boat ran aground in the bayfront area of Tebco Terrace in Holgate, according to the Long Beach Township Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the scene as the United States Coast Guard was already en route. Towboat U.S.A. transported Patrolman Dan Voorhees to the grounded vessel, where he assisted in providing medical aid to the injured.

Rescue swimmers from the Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police, and the Beach Haven Fire Department Water Rescue Unit also responded and provided emergency care at the scene.

The injured individuals were airlifted to a nearby hospital by the Coast Guard. Authorities said their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Additional support was provided by the Beach Haven First Aid Squad, the Beach Haven Fire Department, and Towboat U.S.A.
