Two Injured in Motorcycle Crash, Driver Charged with DWI

SUFFERN, NY – A motor vehicle accident in Paramus, NJ led to the arrest of Alex Cruz, 33, of 2 Cypress Road, Suffern, NY.

On Sunday, around 7:52 p.m., the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a crash near the Forest Avenue entrance to Van Saun Park.

Upon arrival, officers found that a motorcycle, operated by Cruz, had crashed. Both Cruz and a female passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.

The female passenger sustained severe injuries and was transported to Hackensack University Hospital. Cruz, suspected of being intoxicated, was arrested at the site.

Following the investigation, Cruz was charged with third-degree assault by auto resulting in significant injury while under the influence and received multiple citations, including driving while intoxicated. He is currently detained at the Bergen County Jail awaiting his court appearance in Hackensack, NJ.
