Two Injured in Toms River School Bus Crash

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Two people were injured including the bus driver and an occupant of a car involved in a collision that took place Friday afternoon.

The crash happened on Bamberry drive at around 4:00 pm when police and emergency services were dispatched after receiving a report of a school bus crash.

According to police, the bus driver may have suffered a medical episode that resulted in the collision with an occupied, parked car and a utility pole.

“Both the bus driver, and an occupant of the car, were taken to Community Medical Center for treatment,” said Toms River Police Department Spokeswoman Jillian Messina.

There were no reported injuries of the students on the bus, Messia added.

“A second bus was dispatched to the scene to transport the students who were not picked up by a guardian,” she said. “The accident remains under investigation by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Adam Koeppen.”
