Two Nassau Residents Charged with Social Security Fraud

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Markus Effinger of Uniondale and Gloria Sevilla of Valley Stream were arraigned for allegedly defrauding the Social Security Administration.

Effinger, who allegedly received around $72,000 in fraudulent disability benefits, was arraigned before Judge Marie McCormack and is due back in court on October 18.

Sevilla, accused of wrongfully collecting over $137,000 in retirement benefits, was also arraigned before Judge McCormack and is due back in court on Saturday.

Both cases were referred by the Social Security Administration’s Office of the Inspector General.

If convicted, both defendants could face up to 15 years in prison.
