Two Philadelphia Kids Charged for Brutal, Intentional Dog Attack

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Two Philadelphia juveniles, ages 17 and 12 have been taken into custody after a video of them coercing their dogs to brutally attack a cat on a front porch went viral last Tuesday.

According to the Pennsylvania SPCA, “The suspects came in to the Pennsylvania SPCA with a parent to address the charges at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25. The dogs related to this incident have also been taken into the custody of the PSPCA and are currently on hold attached to the investigation.”

Buddy the cat was minding his own business when the two kids passed by his house. The two juveniles dropped their dog leashes and coerced the dogs to attack the cat. Buddy’s owner came out to break up the fight and Buddy is in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

“As the attack continued, a person or persons can be heard on the video encouraging the dogs to continue attacking the cat until a resident of the property comes out to intervene on behalf of the cat. Buddy sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the PSPCA,” the Pennsylvania SPCA said after the attack.

During the attack, the teens shouted for the dog to attack, yelling, “Yah, get ’em, good boy, good boy.”

The two juveniles are now facing felony animal fighting, felony aggravated animal cruelty, and a conspiracy charge.

“These crimes do not fall under offenses which permit juveniles to be charged as adults. Buddy remains in critical condition, but his prognosis is hopeful,” the SPCA said.
