ATLANTA, GA – On Sunday July 25, 2021, at around 1:05, am Atlanta Police were patrolling around 820 James Jackson Pkwy NW due to a large reunion gathering of approximately 1000 people. At the location, an APD officer encountered two individuals exchanging gunfire. The officer fired several shots in response to the gunfire.
At this time it is unclear who shot whom, but two people sustained gunshot wounds. One person was transported to the hospital in stable condition and the second was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was not injured.
In keeping with normal procedure, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called and will conduct the investigation.
