QUINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with the investigation of two men who were shot yesterday on State Highway 49 in Quinton Township, Salem County.
At approximately 5:16 p.m., troopers from Woodstown Station responded to milepost 10.4 eastbound for the report of a double shooting. When troopers arrived, they discovered the victims inside a Dodge Intrepid. The male victims, a 20-year-old driver and a 23-year-old passenger, both sustained gunshot wounds. The driver was taken to Salem Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released. The passenger was treated on scene and airlifted to Cooper University Hospital where he was last listed in critical but stable condition. Three backseat passengers were not injured.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives determined that several shots were fired at the victim’s vehicle while the driver was attempting to make a left turn into a restaurant parking lot on State Highway 49. The suspect vehicle is possibly a tan or brown in color sedan.
