Two Teenagers Charged as Adults in April Homicide

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD—The Prince George’s County Police Department has charged two 17-year-old males in connection with the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Carlos Hernandez-Ortiz in April. The suspects, one from Arlington, Virginia, and the other from Hyattsville, Maryland, are being charged as adults.

The incident took place on April 10 at around 12:05 PM on the 500 block of Chillum Road. Responding officers found Hernandez-Ortiz suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation indicated that the shooting resulted from an ongoing dispute among individuals who were acquainted with each other. The arrest of the two teenagers marks a significant development in the case.
