WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two 19-year-old men have been arrested following a Monday afternoon shooting in Southeast D.C. that led to a police pursuit, helicopter tracking, and a barricade situation in Northeast, officials announced Tuesday.

Just after 4:30 p.m., officers in the 3000 block of Stanton Road SE heard multiple gunshots in the immediate area. While no injuries were reported, a vehicle was seen fleeing the scene at a high speed.

MPD’s helicopter, Falcon 1, was deployed and successfully tracked the suspect vehicle to the 1700 block of West Virginia Avenue NE. The two occupants were seen running into a residence, prompting officers from the Fifth District to establish a perimeter and declare a barricade.

Members of the Emergency Response Team responded and, after several hours, arrested both suspects without incident. Police also recovered the suspect vehicle and multiple firearms at the scene.

Suspects face multiple charges following armed incident and standoff

The suspects were identified as Michael Brown, of Southeast D.C., and Shemar Morris, of Northeast D.C. Both face charges including Endangerment with a Firearm, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Destruction of Property, Unlawful Use of a Vehicle, and Unlawful Entry.
