VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A tragic shooting incident on Almandine Avenue has resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy. Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the emergency call on March 7 at approximately 6:16 p.m., following reports of a gunshot victim in the 4900 block of the street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the young victim with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate efforts to provide aid, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Virginia Beach City Public Schools said the boy was a student at Kempsville High School.

It is with great sorrow that we report the passing of one of our students. Our hearts and sympathies are with the student’s family and the Kempsville High School community,” the district said.

A 16-year-old male has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, Juvenile Possession of a Firearm, and Shooting Inside an Occupied Dwelling.
