Two-year-old shot in Duquesne in critical condition

DUQUESNE, PA – Police in Duquesne are investigating in cooperation with the Allegheny County Police Department’s homicide investigation unit after a two-year-old child was shot Friday night.

According to police, at approximately 9:13 p.m. on Friday, Allegheny County 911 received a call reporting a shooting in the 100 block of N 3rd.

“First responders found a 2-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The child was transported to an area hospital in critical condition,” ACPD said today in a statement.

In a statement today, Allegheny County Police Lt. Venerando Costa said police officers arrived on scene to find the child’s mother holding him. He was rushed into a police vehicle and taken to McKeesport Area Hospital. The child was later transferred to another hospital.

No suspects were identified and no arrests have been made.

Homicide detectives are investigating. At this time, police have not released any further information.
