Utica Hotel Robbery Suspect Apprehended

UTICA, NY – On Wednesday, a robbery occurred at the Double Tree by Hilton on Lafayette St in Utica. The suspect, later identified as John Terry, 55, of Utica, threatened the front desk clerk with a knife and demanded money.

The clerk handed over cash from his own pocket to appease the suspect, who then attempted to open the hotel’s safe but failed.

After obtaining surveillance footage, the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center distributed photographs of the suspect to local law enforcement agencies.

On Thursday, Terry was apprehended and charged with Robbery in the first degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.
