Utica Man Arrested After Menacing Residents with a Shotgun at Michael Walsh Apartments

UTICA, NY – Yesterday, at approximately 7:25 PM, Utica Police were dispatched to 1216 Gray Ave, Michael Walsh Apartments, following a report of a menacing incident involving a shotgun. Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered a male in the hallway holding a shotgun.

The officers gave verbal commands for the individual to drop the weapon, and he complied immediately. The man was then taken into custody without issue.

Further investigation revealed that there had been an argument between the male and several other residents of the building, resulting in the man brandishing the weapon and placing them in fear for their safety.

Richard Fritz, age 38 of Utica, was charged with Menacing in the second degree (x3) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree following the conclusion of the investigation.
