Utica man arrested on drug charges following narcotics investigation

UTICA, N.Y. — A 48-year-old Utica man has been arrested on multiple drug charges following an investigation into the sale and distribution of narcotics, the Utica Police Department announced Friday.

Juan Lucca-Vega was taken into custody on September 27 after investigators from the Utica Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, in collaboration with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and Utica Police Patrol Division, executed several search warrants.

Lucca-Vega faces four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Additional charges may be filed pending further testing by the New York State Crime Lab.

During the searches, authorities seized 50 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of fentanyl, four digital scales, packing materials, and nearly $9,000 in cash.
