Utica Police Arrest Man Following Domestic Incident Involving Firearm

UTICA, NY — On August 22, 2024, Utica Police responded to a domestic incident on the 1100 block of Hammond Avenue where a man was reported to have threatened others with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers located and detained the suspect without incident. A shotgun, identified as the weapon involved, was found in a hallway and was secured by the police.

Following the investigation, Nazim Rascic, 34, of Utica, was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. Additionally, authorities are applying for an Emergency Risk Protection Order in connection with the incident.

The Utica Police Department continues to ensure the safety of all community members by swiftly responding to and addressing such serious situations.
