UTICA, NY – A convicted and registered sex offender out of prison on parole has been charged by the Utica Police Department and New York State Parole Board after it was learned he was using Snapchat in violation of the terms of his release.

According to police, in early May 2022 the Utica Police Department Sex Offender Unit, partnering with NYS Parole, initiated an investigation on a level 3 paroled sex offender for having an unauthorized Snapchat account.

“After conducting a search of the phone and obtaining additional evidence, it was learned that the male did in fact have an account that was no registered as per conditions of his release,” police reported.

Jonathan Baker-Watkins age 23 of Utica was charged with failure to notify the division of criminal justice services of internet accounts.
