UTV rams police cruiser in late-night hit-and-run near Maryland school
Pasadena, MD — Authorities are searching for the operator of a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) who fled the scene after slamming into a police cruiser near a local elementary school during a late-night incident.
Around 12:30 a.m. on September 14, officers responded to reports of multiple UTVs being driven around the property of Fort Smallwood Elementary School, located along the 1700 block of Poplar Ridge Road. As officers arrived and attempted to make contact, the individuals involved fled the scene.
While fleeing, one of the UTVs collided with a marked police vehicle near the intersection of Belhaven Avenue and Poplar Ridge Road. The UTV operator did not stop and sped off from the scene. The police cruiser sustained minor damage, but the officer inside was uninjured.
The incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run, and police are actively working to identify the driver involved.
