Vehicle Flees Traffic Stop Linked to Recent Shoplifting Incident in Toms River

TOMS RIVER, NJ – During a routine traffic stop for motor vehicle violations at the intersection of Fischer Boulevard and Merrimac, Patrol Officer Landmesser attempted to pull over a silver Honda Accord, but the car’s license plate was found to be registered to a Dodge Ram pickup.

The officer then initiated a routine traffic stop, but the driver of the Honda Accord refused to comply and fled the scene, accelerating northbound on Hooper Avenue at a dangerously high speed. Due to the risk posed by the vehicle’s erratic driving, Officer Landmesser decided against initiating a pursuit.

Toms River Patrol Officer Lammer previously identified the vehicle in question in connection with a shoplifting case at the Ulta store in the mall.

A manage at Ulta reported that he observed a male on camera conceal two $65 bottles of fragrances and leave the store. At this time the identity of the suspect is not known.
