Victim escapes assault and attempted robbery in Chelsea

NEW YORK CITY, NY – On Sunday, May 7, 2023, the New York City Police Department reported an attempted robbery. The incident occurred around 12:45 am when an unidentified male approached a 39-year-old man in front of 437 West 16 Street.

The suspect demanded the victim’s watch, brandishing a knife. The victim escaped without injury or loss of property. The suspect, described as a male with a light complexion, wearing a black sweatshirt and carrying a black backpack, fled westbound on foot.
