Virginia Beach Man Arrested for Pointing Stolen Gun at Vehicles

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Travon Avery, a 23-year-old Portsmouth resident, was arrested on Saturday after being caught pointing a stolen firearm at passing vehicles on the 900 block of Atlantic Avenue. Virginia Beach officers were alerted to the situation by a concerned citizen who flagged them down to report the suspicious activity. Officers quickly responded and located Avery on top of a parking garage, holding a firearm. He was detained without incident.

Upon further investigation, the handgun in Avery’s possession was found to have been reported stolen from Portsmouth. He has been charged with Receipt of a Stolen Firearm, Reckless Handling of a Firearm, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. This incident highlights the importance of community engagement with local law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
