SILVER SPRING, MD — A shooting incident in downtown Silver Spring led to the arrest of four Virginia men on Thursday, January 18. The event unfolded around 10:29 p.m., when 3rd District officers, patrolling near Spring Street and 2nd Avenue, noticed suspicious activity among a group of men.

The situation escalated when the occupants of a blue Honda Accord, with Virginia license plates, engaged in a verbal altercation with a man outside the vehicle. The confrontation turned violent as both a passenger from the Honda and the man outside drew handguns and exchanged gunfire. The passenger then re-entered the car, which drove down N. Falkland Lane, a dead-end street.

Police quickly apprehended the driver and another passenger of the Honda. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Glock 19 with an extended magazine and a loaded AK-47 style pistol. The individual who had been standing outside the Honda was also arrested, found in possession of a 9mm privately manufactured firearm used in the shooting.

With aid from a Prince George’s County helicopter, the second shooter from the Honda was seen fleeing across Georgia Avenue and was later arrested behind the Fillmore Theater.

The arrested individuals are:

  • Christian Nicholas Baker, 19, from Ashburn, VA (identified as the buyer and one of the shooters),
  • Roshad Deon Harvey Jr., 22, from an unknown VA address (passenger and shooter),
  • Jason Mortice Harvey, 18, from Richmond, VA (driver),
  • Jaeden Levelle Harris, 18, from Aldie, VA (rear passenger).

The investigation indicates the group traveled from Virginia to Silver Spring, allegedly to sell a firearm to Baker.
