Wellsville Man Charged with Arson and Criminal Mischief

WELLSVILLE, NY – John D. Ewert, 43, of Wellsville, was arrested on charges of third-degree arson and second-degree criminal mischief. The arrest follows an investigation into an August 3, 2022 fire at 482 Scott Avenue, Wellsville.

Ewert’s arrest was based on an indictment warrant from the Allegany County Court. After processing, he appeared before Judge Thomas P. Brown in Allegany County Court. Ewert was released under pre-trial supervision by the Allegany County Probation Department and is scheduled to return to court on January 16 at 10:00 am.
