Westfield Man Thwarts Attempted Robbery While He Was Fixing Flat Tire

WESTFIELD, NJ – A local motorist reported a thwarted burglary and attempted theft from his vehicle while he was changing a flat tire on Springfield Avenue near Mohican Drive. The incident occurred on September 5 at 11:15 a.m.

The victim was in the process of changing his tire when another vehicle pulled over. An unidentified male passenger exited that vehicle, entered the victim’s car without permission, and seized two envelopes containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled the scene, hopping back into the waiting vehicle driven by an unidentified female accomplice.

As the suspect retreated, he dropped the stolen envelopes. The victim was able to recover all of the cash. The case, numbered 23-39617, is under investigation.
