Westport Police Rescue Capsized Boaters, Respond to Boat Launch Mishap in Long Island Sound

WESTPORT, CT – Westport marine police officers rescued two people from an overturned canoe in Long Island Sound and later responded to a vehicle in the water at a boat launch ramp.

According to police, the Westport Police Department Marine Unit responded to a capsized canoe with two people in the water on Long Island Sound this afternoon.

“Both people were wearing life jackets and were brought aboard the Westport Police Department marine unit vessel, which had responded to assist,” the Westport Police Department said. “Later the Marine Unit responded to Veteran’s Park for a vehicle and trailer in the water at the boat launch. They were able to pull the vehicle and trailer out of the water.”

No one was inured at either incident.
