Wildfire in Hopewell Township burns 288 acres, 80% contained

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ — Fire crews continue battling a wildfire that has burned 288 acres in Mercer County, with officials reporting it is now 80% contained.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said the fire, located in the area of Poor Farm Road, remains a threat to 30 residential structures and four commercial buildings. No evacuations have been ordered.

Poor Farm Road and Woosamonsa Road are closed to through traffic as ground crews and fire engines work to contain the blaze. Local fire companies are assisting with structure protection.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
