Wilkes-Barre woman reports fraudulent utility accounts opened in her name

WILKES-BARRE, PA — A 51-year-old city resident has reported being the victim of identity fraud after discovering that multiple utility accounts were opened using her personal information.

Victim alerts police after suspicious activity discovered

The woman visited Wilkes-Barre City Police Headquarters on Thursday afternoon to report the fraud. She informed officers that someone had used her personal details to create several unauthorized utility accounts.

The fraudulent activity was linked to an address on Davis Place, but the suspect’s identity remains unknown.

Investigation remains active

Police have opened a case and are continuing to investigate the incident under IRC number 250071359. No arrests have been made, and the department has not yet released details on how the suspect obtained the victim’s information.
