Dentist charged for touching patient during exam

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 72-year-old Tiberiu V. Sfintescu, also known as Vali Sfintescu, of Williamsville has been arraigned before Town of Tonawanda Court Justice Daniel T. Cavarello on one count of Forcible Touching, a Class “A” misdemeanor.

It is alleged that on May 27, 2020, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the defendant intentionally and forcibly touched the intimate parts of a female patient during an appointment at his dental office in the Town of Tonawanda.

Sfintescu is scheduled to return on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. for further proceedings. He was released on his own recognizance.

If convicted on the charge, Sfintescu faces up to one year in jail.

A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

DA Flynn commends the Town of Tonawanda Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Stephen C. Earnhart of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau
