Winter Weather Forces Tuesday Closures at Schools Across Northern Virginia

NORTHERN VIRGINIA – Schools in Fairfax, Stafford, Loudoun, Prince William, Alexandria, and Arlington announced closures for Tuesday, January 16, due to a snowstorm affecting the region. The snow, which started on Monday, January 15, is expected to transform into a wintry mix overnight.

The National Weather Service forecasts 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation in Northern Virginia by Monday night. A combination of rain, snow, and freezing rain is anticipated before noon on Tuesday, with a possibility of more snow later in the day. These conditions are likely to result in hazardous road conditions throughout the area.
