Bronx, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department has identified the woman who was fatally shot in a vehicle in the Bronx over the weekend. Maria Rosado, 37, of Yonkers, was pronounced dead after being transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital following the shooting incident early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 12:21 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022, reporting two people shot near East 170 Street and College Avenue in the 44th Precinct. Upon arrival, officers found Rosado in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. A second victim, a 43-year-old male in the front passenger seat, had been shot in the left leg.

EMS transported Rosado to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The male victim was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.

The NYPD has not made any arrests, and the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.

“The investigation is active and ongoing,” the New York City Police Department stated.
