Woman arrested for murder in Capitol Heights following deadly altercation

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — Prince George’s County Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a woman inside a Capitol Heights home on the evening of December 12, 2024.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Erica Terry of Shipman, Virginia, is charged with the murder of 54-year-old Connie Burns of Capitol Heights.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the 6400 block of Cabin Branch Court following a report of a fight. Upon arrival, they discovered Burns suffering from trauma. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to police, Terry remained on-site after the incident and was taken into custody. A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and victim were known to each other and had been involved in a physical altercation before the murder.

Terry has been charged with second-degree murder and related offenses. She is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
